Cornwall Gardens
Reconfiguration of a first floor flat facing onto one of London’s garden squares.
There were two important aims for this project :
– To reinstate the main room as one room. This had been divided in previous renovations.
– To form a view from the main bedroom at the rear of the first floor, with the trees and greenery of the garden square at the front .
This was achieved by using a glazed screen (which performed to all the necessary regulations preventing spread of fire), as a device to open up the views and allow the space to flow from a spine corridor which serves the two bedrooms and bathrooms, into the new enlarged living spaces and beyond to the mature trees of Cornwall Gardens.
