Chester Gate, Regents Park, London
Part of John Nash’s Regents Park development of the 1820s, this grade 2 listed house had been refitted in the 1980s and little remained of the original interiors except for the original elegant cantilevered stone staircase linking all levels, even fireplaces had been removed.
The interiors were entirely refitted with richly coloured walnut floors and joinery, including bathrooms and a bespoke dressing room. The Client’s collection of Chinese and Korean furniture was integrated into the overall design. The overall result brought back a feeling for materiality and articulation of the well proportioned rooms.
